Their band name was inspired by the self given death of japanese author Yukio Mishima who, after a failed coup d’etat, committed suicide according to ancient japanese tradition (seppuku or hara kiri ) as a gesture of public protest. Composed of brothers Cortes namely Alex (guitar/programming) and Willie (vocals/ drums/bass/programming), Seppuku Paradigm was formed in 2005. The pair had already worked together before but not to such an extent. While Willie released his debut album in 2004 on a major label (Willie Cortez -‘FARSUCT’/Delabel/EMI), Alex was composing and producing with french collective ‘Downliners Sekt’ ( The Pledge EP /Bloom Records) along with appearing live and in studio for Willie’s solo project (live performances included festivals “PRINTEMPS DE BOURGES”, “TRANSMUSICALES” and opening act for BUCK 65 at “Elysée Montmartre” in Paris). Early 2005, they sat down and wrote a couple of songs together , which led to more and quite naturally they decided to form the two piece band. Locked in their makeshift studio they started composing and producing songs that, to sum up ,blend post rock inspired tunes and sharp guitars with aggressive sub bass and computer generated weirdness. Add Willie’s hooks and you get Seppuku Paradigm. In 2007 SP wrote/produced 3 exclusive songs for Julien Séri ‘s latest film ’SCORPION’ (out Feb 21 2007 in France/Out now on DVD),they also independently released their first effort ( Unedited/Unreviewed EP – out April 2007). Most of the summer 07 was spent composing the original soundtrack for Franck Vestiel ‘s dark and dank sci-fi thriller ’EDEN LOG’ (out now on DVD in France/US theatrical release Feb 2009).The brothers’ latest work to date is the full original score to Pascal Laugier’s much controversed ‘MARTYRS’ (which has recently won the Silver Meliès for BEST EUROPEAN FILM at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival).Right now The Paradigm is getting ready to present their music on stage with a new live setup and combo.Next stop is a full length release…
